Snow and ice are a difficult problem to resolve with just a single tool. Instead, we aim to create safe road conditions by requiring a number of techniques to be used in tandem.
- Snow plowing and removal: A key to returning the roads to a safe state is plowing and removing all the snow so there is a clear path again for cars and improved friction between the pavement and tires. We have this specialized equipment ready to go.
- Sanding roads and walkways: Sand is a useful tool when surfaces are icy. It gives tires and shoes extra grip and traction.
- Salting surfaces: While it appears to be a similar process, salt is spread for a very different reason than sand. The salt actually lowers the temperature at which water freezes, causing ice to melt and preventing other moisture from turning to ice once it has already hit the ground.
